Wind Back in My Sails

After a nine month hiatus, I am going to attempt to revive this blog. I know, I know. You are probably saying, “Haven’t you said this before, Aaron?” The answer to that is “yes”. There is a (in my estimation) pretty darn legitimate reason for this. The past nine months of my life have been some of the most difficult and to be honest, I have had no mental or spiritual capacity to keep up with this, especially in lieu of all of my other many responsibilities.

But by God’s grace, I am taking another crack at it. Of course this time, there will be no expectations placed on myself in order to completely avoid any unwarranted pressure (Because you all know how we can become so legalistic when it comes to blogs – we say “I have to post today or else I will get behind and if I get behind I will never catch back up and if I don’t ever catch back up, my blog will become useless and pointless.”). That being said, I am going to try my best to post every now and then on life, family, church planting, leadership, and anything else that may come to mind.

At this juncture, I feel the need to re-introduce myself (Do people do that on blogs?). My name is Aaron Proffitt. I am a sinner in need of God’s grace. Thankfully He has extended His grace to me through the person and work of Jesus and as a result has saved me from sin, death, and condemnation. I owe everything to Jesus. I love my wife Ashlee and my four children, Andrew, Aaden, Asher, and Adelee. Only three of my children are with me on this earth. I’ll catch you up to speed sometime on what happened to my second born son Aaden a few years back when he went to be with Jesus. I also serve as the teaching pastor of Aletheia Church in Tampa, Florida. By God’s grace, we have a growing gospel-centered church where we are seeing lives transformed by the power of the gospel. That is basically my life in a nut shell.

Here’s the recap: I love Jesus. I love my wife. I love my children. I love Jesus’ church.

Those are the things I will be writing about mostly because that is basically all I know. I can’t really give you fitness advice, even though I have a college degree in Kinesiology. Nor can I give you fashion advice (My old photos will prove that to you). Nor can I give you tips on how to grow a garden, start a business, interior design something (leave that to my wife), or honestly anything else (Well, maybe traveling and Mexican food because I’ve done a lot of both of those over the years – but that’s it!). Nope, I’m pretty boring at the end of the day. But if you feel like reading about Jesus, my beautiful family, the amazing church that I have the privilege to pastor, or ministry and leadership in general, then you have come to the right place.

Thanks for stopping by. Check back in periodically. Grace.
