All the Happenings

I guess my blog can be summarized as an update blog but that’s okay because sometimes this is the best medium in which I can get what’s going on out to some of you.

The last week or so has been a whirl wind. A week ago today I was flying into Atlanta and subsequently driving to Athens to do some evangelism training at the University of Georgia. It ended up being a marathon day. My good friend, mentor, and dear supporter Mark Lydecker toted me all over northern Georgia. At 6pm I was able to train 26 UGA kids in the Aletheia model of evangelism. They were very receptive, asked a lot of questions, and now I feel that those students are ready and equipped to get out and rock that campus with the gospel. Then at 8 I was asked to speak to a couple hundred more students at a college service at UGA called “The Connection.” it was amazing and the receptivity was overwhelming. I had five kids come up to me and ask if they could come to Tampa and intern with us here. The day ended very late and it was back to Tampa early the next morning.

Then, this past weekend we had our dear friends Brandon and Ann Kiracofe stop in to Tampa. It was such an encouragement to see them. They are always such a blessing and we love them dearly. They were able to come out to our 6th worship gathering at Aletheia Tampa and see what God was already doing here. It was a fantastic night. God continues to bring new people and build momentum in this new church.

The week then culminated yesterday with a trip to the doctor’s office for Ashlee and an ultrasound. Ashlee was 19 weeks on Monday, just far enough in the pregnancy to see what gender our little baby was. After months of me thinking we would be having a girl this time around (Ashlee had a hunch all along it would be a boy), my heart was filled with surprise (thanks to a little pointer that the ultra sound tech used) to see that we were going to have another boy. Asher Nathaniel showed us his good looks for the first time and it was sweet to see that cute little boy. The ultra sound tech said that he was bigger than normal (go figure on that one), and that he was perfect in every way. She was actually surprised to see how much he had already developed at just 19 weeks. What a relief to both Ashlee and I that our little boy was healthy, safe, and developing just fine in mommy’s belly (which is getting bigger and bigger…sorry baby).

The joy we felt yesterday was pretty incredible but always in the back of our minds is the thought of our little Aaden, who would be getting ready for his first birthday this next week. Our family will always be incomplete (no matter how many little ones we pop out in the future) because our little guy is not with us. Life is hard and it’s painful but we feel blessed because we get to experience a little bit of joy after such a sorrowful year.

Here are some random images from the past week (key word is random)…
