2009 has been incredible so far! After a very difficult end to 2008, God has once again shown His faithfulness to the Proffitt family and to the ministry of Aletheia. This year we will realize five Aletheia churches; four in the great state of Virginia and one in Tampa, Florida. Wait, did I say Tampa, Florida?

That’s right. Aletheia has finally gone national. After all of these years of praying and discussing, Aletheia church has extended its borders outside of Virginia. In January, three young men of Aletheia Harrisonburg made the trek to Tampa to begin the next Aletheia Church plant. There will be so much on this in the days to come. For now, pray for Emilio, JR, and Speedy, and the brand new Aletheia church plant. Keep up with all of the Tampa happenings here. We hope that this will be the start of a national collegiate church planting movement and network.

Also in 2009, we will see the start of our fourth Virginia Aletheia church plant as Paul Fiske and his family will be heading to Radford this summer. We have been praying about Radford for years now and God finally brought the right guy at the right time to reach out to that awesome campus in Southwestern Virginia. Presently, we are in the beginning stages of creating this (above mentioned) network called Aletheia Link. This will allow all of the students from our various church plants (Harrisonburg, Richmond, Norfolk, Radford, and Tampa) to retreat to their homes during the summer and winter breaks, or wherever they go after they graduate, and stay connected with fellow Aletheia people in those various cities. We hope that this will be the initiation of many Aletheia church plants around the state of Virginia and hopefully the nation (as the premise will be for the students or graduates to start small groups and see where the Lord takes these small groups).

Pray for this movement. That God will really be in it. Every college campus around the nation needs a church that specifically targets them and that age group. Aletheia hopes to one day be the answer to the void that exists in University towns all across the nation.

We are thinking big on this one. But God is so big. He is so much bigger than how big our little brains can go (if that made any sense)…
