Busy Aletheia Weekend

It’s Monday morning and I know that there are some tired Aletheia folks out there. We had a crazy and fun weekend with a jam packed schedule.

On Friday, we held our third ever concert at Aletheia Church. The line up on Friday was Dreaming of Eden, The War, The Season, and Point of Honor. All of the bands were amazing and put on great shows. We expected a lot more of you guys to be there so that was a bit of a let down. I mean, come on, The Season’s lead singer is a former American Idol Finalist :) All jokes aside though, if you weren’t there on Friday, you missed a great show. A big thanks goes out to Ace for his hard work in making the show happen. You did a great job bro. Thanks to everyone else who also helped to put that together. We also had a great clean up crew after the show. A couple of you (uhh humm…Erica and Speedy) ended up cleaning the carpets all night long. I heard you were joined by others also. Thanks to all of you.

Then, on Saturday, we had the 6th annual “Chilly-Chili Cook-Off,” out in Sangerville. Although we are opposed to tradition at Aletheia, we definitely view this event as something we will continue to do for years to come. About 130 people came out to hang out and grub on some chili. It was a lot of fun. There were many memories, especially during the toddler Halloween costume parade when Big Game James decided to pick up Pastor Dave and carry him through the gauntlet of people viewing the parade. It made for some big laughs.

Finally, the Sunday worship experience was spectacular. I feel that the momentum is continuing to carry us through the middle of the semester, which always for some reason sees a drop in attendance for us. Lots of people were there and they were super passionate. There was a lot of excitement in our building yesterday morning and it was really refreshing. I already can’t wait until next Sunday.

A passage that I shared with the congregation yesterday is what is emanating in my head this morning and I am going to share it again with you guys. I am going through the book of 1 Timothy in my quiet times and I am learning a lot. In chapter 1 verse 5 Paul is what I think instructing Timothy on how to really love God. He tells Timothy to “love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith.” How are we loving God? Are we loving Him the way that he deserves to be loved today? Think about that in whatever you are doing today.
