So it’s official, the freshmen at JMU have all moved in and many of them were waiting at the “Godwin” bus stop yesterday morning to be picked up to come out to Aletheia. It was awesome! In total we had 81 first time guests who filled out our information cards. It was an incredible day as God really blessed all of the hard work that went into yesterday’s experience.
To get the word out on campus this year we stuffed 5,000 JMU mailboxes with some sweet bookmarks. Thanks to the entire crew of people that made that happen…especially those of you who placed the labels over the typo (you know who you are). We know for a fact that many of the freshmen that came out yesterday came because of those little bookmarks in their mailboxes. I even saw some of the freshmen that we helped move in this past week at Aletheia yesterday. That was pretty cool!
The crowd was huge, the energy was electric, people were passionate, and most importantly, Pastor Dave gave an invitation and about 10 people accepted Jesus into their life. It was an encouraging ending to a memorable day. It was the last week of our series “Light Me Up” and it went out with a bang. We handed out glow sticks again, the band rocked out Fee’s “We Shine,” and Pastor Dave’s message was one of encouragement and hope.
This next week should get even more interesting as more students will be back in town. If you’re around you won’t want to miss it. We are beginning our next series called “Time’s Up,” and it is sure to be an awesome adventure as we get through the rest of Isaiah.
