Just another year?

2007 is nearly gone. There are only 3 days left in a year that marked the best and most productive year for a young church that just 6 years ago started with only 4 people. Here are some of the highlights…

  • The year began with a trip to the Yucatan in early January in which the team of 4 saw over 30 come to know the Lord.
  • A baby boom occurred at Aletheia when 8 (yep that’s right 8 babies) were born from January to June (and more have popped out even as recently as a couple of weeks ago). That’s saying a lot for a church that didn’t have any babies to speak of for the first few years. Not to mention, there were frequently as many as 40-50 children at Aletheia on any given Sunday…For those of us that have been with the ministry since the beginning we know how staggering that number is.
  • In April the Aletheia band was able to open up for the grammy nominated group “Decemberadio.”
  • In May, a team of eight went to Amsterdam and shared the Good News with over a hundred people.
  • In August the band lost their drummer to Georgia only to receive an awesome early Christmas gift with his return.
  • Throughout the year Pastor Dave and Aaron were asked to speak at various “Church Planting” meetings to cast the vision of the “Aletheia College-Aged Church Planting Model” all over the nation.
  • In September and throughout the fall, Aletheia’s Sunday morning attendance reached as many as 450 people.
  • Also in September, Aletheia Richmond launched with 175 people coming out to the very first service.
  • A Wednesday evening service started with the inception of the next generation of the Aletheia band.
  • In the fall, a team began to be assembled with hope of going to Virginia Beach to start the next Aletheia.
  • Just this month a team of 7 made a return visit to the Yucatan where they saw close to 70 people commit their lives to Christ for the first time.
  • 10 new small groups were started.
  • Dozens were baptized.
  • Hundreds came to know the Lord.
  • Even more trained and equipped to carry on the work of the Lord.

Revalation 11:17: “We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, The One who is and who was and who is to come, Because You have taken Your great power and reigned.”

What do you remember about 2007 at Aletheia? I’m sure I left a lot of good stuff out. Comment on some of your own personal highlights?

Let’s look forward to even more productivity in 2008.
