Happy Anniversary Aletheia!
Hey everyone,
For those of you who don’t know, this Sunday marks the 6 year anniversary of Aletheia Church here in Harrisonburg. It is really hard to believe that it was six years ago, October 28th, 2001, that we launched our very first meeting inside of the (what is now) WXJM building on the corner of Cantrell and Resevoir. We crammed 64 bodies in that tiny room and cranked up the guitars and drums. It was a mess of noise (as you all can imagine) but we had fun…We’ve always had fun. Even if only half of those 64 people came back the next week
A lot has changed since that first service, and we have really grown a lot as a ministry (both numerically and organizationally), but I wouldn’t change any of the struggles that we went through for anything. I have no regrets because it was through those hard times that we learned the most. If you are wondering what church planting is like, aske me about it, and I will gladly sit you down and fill you in. Do you have 7 straight days of free time? Church planting is intense and difficult and a lot of times discouraging but we have been so privileged by God to experience success here in Harrisonburg.
These last 6 years have been amazing. I have met the most incredible people, seen hundreds and really thousands of lives changed, seen another church planted (Aletheia Richmond), and seen God work in ways that I didn’t think would be imagineable. I really have had the privilege of working alongside some of the greatest servants of God in these past 6 years. I can still remember (before we moved to Virginia) when our small team of 4 would sit and pray at that mexican restaurant on Sunday afternoons in Temecula, California. We would pray for the right people to come alongside of us, catch the vision, and connect themselves to our ministry. We prayed for college students, teachers, lawyers, doctors, engineers, nurses, contractors, accountants, and every other profession that could be thought of. We prayed for leaders, core people, band members, evangelists, Bible teachers, disciple makers, etc… God answered our prayers in ways that surpassed our comprehension.
And here we are 6 years later, grateful about what has happened in the past, and hopeful for what is going to happen in the future. Not only are we hopeful for the ministry here in Harrisonburg, but also for the ministry in Richmond, and every where else God may lead this movement. Thank you for catching the vision. Thank you for being a part. Thank you for doing the work of the Lord with us. Thank you for your sacrifice.
Please join us as we continue to pray for God’s will to be done here at Aletheia. What will the next 6 years be like? If they are anything like the first 6, then we have a lot to look forward to.
It just blows me away to see how much your prayers before you guys came out to VA have come to fruition. God is awesome! All of us that have been drawn to Aletheia have been blessed by what the Lord is doing here.
We should all see this as an amazing example of what God can do THROUGH US in our lives and how we can affect the lives of others! I’m pumped!
