Eternal Significance

I trust everyone’s week is going spectacularly so far. I must say that mine is going pretty well because my 3 month old son Drew is starting to sleep more during the night and that translates into Ashlee and I getting more sleep at night…Thank you God!

As I am writing this blog in my office, I am watching Drew who is sitting in a “bouncy seat” next to me that makes water noises and has a make shift aquarium attached to it with fishes inside that have smiley faces on them. A baby’s life is pretty sweet! Sometimes I wish I could stare at happy fish and not have to worry or think about anything else going on. Drew’s life is non-complicated and I like that. When we grow up, things become more complicated, but most of the time it just has to do with the poor decisions that we make in life and the lack of trust that we put in God. I am reminded of Pastor Dave’s message this past Sunday morning when he talked about how the things that we do in life that have eternal significance are the only things that matter. Peter made the choice (for a few moments) to be an “at a distance” follower of Christ. It was obviously not a good choice. How many times do we do the same thing? We choose to engage ourselves in activities that might have earthly value but mean nothing when put into an eternal context. We need to always be thinking and re-thinking what we are doing in this life. We need to evaluate every single thing we are involved with. Are we living for God the way we should and giving him most, if not all, of our time, energy, and resources? It is a valid consideration seeing as though Jesus gave us His all.

Have a great rest of your day!
