A tough challenge
I hope everyone is doing well this week. Things at Aletheia are busy as always especially with all of the new people that have come on the scene recently and the starting up of new small groups and plugging people into all of the different ministry areas at aletheia. Are you serving at aletheia? Are you a part of a small group? If you are not then I want to strongly encourage you to make time in your busy schedule to do so. If you enjoy the Sunday morning worship experience then you are definitely going to love the small groups and how about adding to the quality to the experience on Sundays by using your gifts and abilities that God has given you.
This kind of reminds me of the parable that Pastor Dave taught on back in July out of Matthew 25:14-29. The first two servants doubled the talents that their master had given them and he was pleased because they had managed what they had very well. But the third servant took the one talent and buried it in a hole in the ground. He was called “wicked and lazy” by his servant because he did not manage what he had been given properly.
So how are all of us doing with this? Are we taking what God has given to us and burying it in a hole or are we maximizing the gifts He has blessed us with. I know a lot of people that are managing their spiritual assets in incredible ways. But on the other end of the spectrum, I find it somewhat sad and disheartening that only 20% of the people that attend church are doing 80% of the work. How amazing would it be to see 100% of the people doing 100% of the work? Imagine how much more would be accomplished for the kingdom if that were the case. If you call Aletheia your church home then please, I implore you to step up and help us to reach the lost in Harrisonburg. We are on a rescue mission and we are talking about people’s eternities here. If you could prevent a person from drowning to death would you do it? This is the same type of situation. We have an opportunity to help rescue people from a spiritual death. Whatever gifts God has given to you, please put them to use. Let’s not waste what God has given to us.
Please consider these things as you pray and seek God this week.
So, I am sitting here at Starbuck’s in TN reading this blog and wondering why there is no comments to this powerful message. Thanks AP! I may be in TN, but I call Aletheia my home and will always speak to it that way. I can tell you firsthand, how powerful getting plugged into the small groups and serving are. They are immeasureable. The friendships, growth, accountability, and love is unmatched. GET INVOLVED!! It is life changing! I don’t say this because I think I am good at it. As a matter fo fact there are people there who blow anything I do out of the water, but I can tell you the opportunity to grow and make a difference is huge by allowing yourself to be used by God.
