Humility
Hi everybody,
Well, as they say, yesterday was unofficially the last day of summer but to me it still feels like it and that brings a smile to my face because I love the heat. I hope everyone is having a great week so far. I know a lot of you had the day off yesterday because it was Labor Day but there were also those of you who worked and, if you are a JMU student, went to classes all day. That’s pretty sad
But for those of you who came out to Aletheia on Sunday, you would know that we have nothing to be sad about. What an amazing time of worship we all experienced with the hundreds of people who came out. It was the largest attended service in the history of the church. All glory goes to God! Speedy made a return visit to be with us (one week after we sent him off to Bible College in Georgia) to bail the band out yet again and we rocked some tunes by Delirious, Matt Redman, Hillsong United, and Relient K. Thanks again Speedy! We love you and miss you. Also, Pastor Dave taught a (to none of our surprise) challenging message on “The danger of overconfidence.” I was once again reminded about how the way to operate in life is to have an attitude of humility and submissiveness. Even Peter glitched when he told Jesus in Matthew 26 that “I will never be made to stumble.” Well, we all know what’s going to happen to Peter as we continue our study in Matthew in the coming weeks. Let’s never say never and instead say “God, give me your strength and power to not stumble because I am so weak.” Sometimes we (as my mom would always say growing up) get “a little too big for our own britches.” I hope you went away from Sunday encouraged, uplifted, and humbled, and ready to see God exalted even more in your life.
At the end of the service I encouraged everyone to take one of our “rave cards” and to invite somebody to next week’s service. I hope you guys are doing that. We desire to continue to see lives changed and developed and the more people God brings to aletheia, the more that this world can be impacted for His name’s sake. We are intentional in seeing people become true followers of Him and to see people’s lives saturated with His truth. Please help us as we seek to accomplish this through His power and strength in the lives of so many more.
Have a great week. Serve God and do it in humility and submission
Our time of Worship on Sunday WAS amazing! It felt so wonderful to see everyone so intently listening to God’s word, and enjoying the awesome praise and worship. I am so fortunate and blessed to be a part of this ministry.

The 3 previous comments are great examples of how God uses Aletheia to reach people. Not only just reach people but you can feel there genuine enthusiasm for God and love. God is love. Aletheia is love because God is in Aletheia. NOW I’M PUMPED!!! I am going to go bring God into the weight room……….Pipes.
This is fun! A day in the life of AP:) I haven’t gotten all caught up, but what a great idea! I’m so excited to hear about the record number of folks coming out, Shaun and I wish that we’d been there to worship Him with yall. Looking forward to seeing yall again soon! Hope life as parents is so rewarding for the two of you, and that you finally may be finding out what that thing called sleep is about:) Give Ashlee my love!
Hey, is there an “Ask Groover” spot, or is this where we’d ask him questions? Had a few things pop up and thought it’d be fun to bounce it off yall.
(Wish I could bring God into the weight room… but my tiny muscles don’t really do the mightyness of God justice.)
Thanks Ap for your thoughts, and for everyone who has come out over the past few weeks. It’s been awe-inspiring to watch God move in the hearts of so many people, and to have gained a stronger walk with Him as a result. He is Good.
Love you all,
Ace
Hey Bretters,
Sorry this response is so late to your comment. For some reason your comment just showed up on the blog…but I wanted to let you know that you can ask Pastor Dave a question via a comment and he’ll get it and answer you back through a blog post. So whatever you want to ask go ahead and do it by leaving him a comment. Hope you Redgates are doing well. God bless!
